About Mango & Chili Resort - Pulau Kapas Beach Chalet, Resort & Hotel

It is the same place, but now under new name and management. We are a German family and took  the resort over from Rose, the heart and soul of this beautiful place for so many years. We want to preserve the natural beauty of this bay and maintain everything so that all guests can enjoy their stay with us.

Its the perfect place for just doing Nothing. No schedules, no responsibilities, no “Whats next?”.
There’s something wonderfully liberating about doing nothing at a beautiful beach. No pressure, no goals—just the gentle sound of waves and the warm breeze reminding you to slow down. Strolling along the shoreline, watching the light sparkle on the water, or simply sitting in the sand and breathing it all in is not laziness—it’s essential. It recognizes that rest is part of living, not an interruption to it. In moments like these, there’s nothing to regret. You’re giving your mind space, your body calm, and your spirit room to breathe. Sometimes doing nothing is exactly what you need.
We know: Many people find it difficult these days to simply do nothing. So start slowly. Take a nap in a hammock, read a book, go for a walk on the beach. If you’re hungry, enjoy a snack or a drink in our restaurant. Life can be simple. Start feeling the island vibe!

But yes, even on an island like this you can enjoy some activities:

  • Diving: Enjoy more than 20 dive sites around the island. The local dive center is just a 5-minutes walk away from our resort.
  • Turtle Conservation Center: If you are lucky, you can watch our baby turtles when they are hatched from their eggs and go into the ocean for the first time. They are sooo cute!
  • Snorkeling: Discover the coral reefs – you can start directly from our beach.
  • Kayaking: Take a kayak and discover the remote beaches or paddle around the whole island.
  • Beach Volleyball: Join the beach volleyball community in the late afternoon.
  • Jungle Trail: Discover the jungle of Kapas Island, but don’t forget insect repellent!
  • River Cruise: Take a boat ride and cruise up Marang River along the mangrove swamp river. Spot wild animals looking for food at the riverbank along the journey (monitor lizard, monkeys, birds, eagles & otters). Visit local villages and markets, witness the traditional lifestyle of riverside villagers which included several cottage industries such as fish farming, attap leave roof weaving and brown sugar making. Sometimes you can even see a monkeys plucking a coconut.
  • Day Trip to Kuala Terengganu: Discover on of the most magical mosques in Malaysia: The Crystal Mosque of Terengganu – a floating dream made of crystal and light. Built with glass and steel, it shimmers like a mirage on the water. Nearby is the Terenggan State Museum – the biggest museum complex in South East Asia. It was built with a beautiful garden landscape and resembling Terengganu’s glory which is rich in cultural history until today.

By Bus:
You can book a bus ticket to Kuala Terrenganu (e.g. via Easybook.com). From there, you can take the short public bus or taxi down to the Marang Jetty. You can also take a Grab (similar to Uber) to Marang Jetty. Grab is very popular all over South-East-Asia. If you take the public bus from Kuala Terenganu to the Marang Jetty, just make sure you ask the bus driver to drop you off at Marang!

By Flight:
There is no airport on Kapas island, but you can always book a flight on one of the many budget airlines in Malaysia to Kuala Terenganu Airport. If you fly to Kuala Terenganu and can’t make it to Kapas Island the same day, you can always book a budget stay and spend one night in Kuala Teranganu then head to the jetty the next day.

If you need help with your baggage you can contact us and we send someone to help you.

Send us a message when you know your arrival time at the jetty. Then we inform the boat service and reserve a seat for you. We will tell you then which of the both partners will transport you to the island.
